Bihar Board 12th English Chapter 8 Summary 2022 Fire-Hymn
Keki N. Daruwalla wrote this present poem “Fire-Hymn”. This poet was born in 1937. He was the recipient of Sahitya Academy Award and Common wealth poetry Award.
Fire-Hymn describes about the different Ghats where dead bodies are burnt. He got an idea to compose this poem when he had to burn his elder son in one of the Ghats. The poet says that even though he is “Parsi” he chose to burn his son instead of disposing the dead body because “Tower Of Silence” was thousand miles away from there. There he realized that fire is not performing its duty properly. It leaves bodies half burnt. Smoke from the fire is touching the sky and the sky seemed to be red ball.
If a person follows different rituals, he has to face criticism by the society.
